The goal:

General Motors’ research unit in Detroit is exploring new concepts and technical solutions around automotive infotainment. Having early ideas and user needs in mind, GM needed design and development help in order to create a solution.

The process:

Futurice team consisting of designers and technical developers created concepts, visual designs and actual implementation for an IVI solution for cross-platform service and media usage.

The result:

By having designers and developers working together from the beginning of the project, GM received real demonstrable prototypes quickly and regularly. This enabled getting better user feedback and speeding up the whole development process. From technical point of view the biggest challenge was cross-usage of different devices that run different operating systems, whereas designers needed to understand IVI interaction guidelines from safety point of view.

General Motors is developing the complete solutions further and continues cooperation with Futurice.
