Helping Nokia to create a high-spec app with a seamless user experience.
The goal:
Nokia enlisted Futurice to design and create a mobile app offering movie-lovers a smooth and seamless browsing and viewing experience. Our remit was to create a dedicated app that rescued users from trawling through a variety of websites when they wanted to check the trailers of upcoming blockbusters. The entire experience was to be engineered holistically, from a user’s perspective, and fully utilizing the extensive capabilities of Qt on Symbian ^3.
The process:
We started with a clean slate, thinking about all the elements that should be united for the perfect user experience. The app had to be simple, elegant and fast, and that’s how the Futurice team built it. We’re looking forward to implementing continued improvements to the user experience and responding rapidly to user requests.
The result:
Nokia Trailers is currently available in the Ovi Store and Nokia tells us they’ve received outstandingly positive feedback. Now, with a smartphone and a spare moment, mobile users can browse and view trailers by choosing between HD and SD downloads or streaming the trailer directly. Futurice also created the entire server-side infrastructure for hosting trailers and provided the admin tools for managing the trailer categories, uploads and market availability of video assets, which makes also administrators’ work easy.
