About the role

Your summer will consist of project work either in one of our external client projects or in an internal development project - or perhaps a bit of both. Location can be either Tampere or Helsinki and you get to work full-time. You will be working alongside an experienced cross-disciplinary team to learn the craft of modern data consulting.

On top of learning and interesting projects, you get to network with our active international Slack community, you get to participate in Futurice events, and enjoy a wide list of Futurice provided benefits. What you'll be doing:

• Assisting in the development and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL processes
• Working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP to store and process data
• Collaborating with software developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders
• Gaining experience in databases (SQL & NoSQL) and data modeling
• Learning and working with tools like Python, Spark, Airflow, or similar technologies
• Supporting the team in ensuring data quality, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues

What we're looking for:

• A curious mind eager to learn about data engineering and cloud technologies
• Some experience with Python, SQL, or other relevant programming languages
• Basic understanding of using & developing in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP and ideally some experience from one of the mentioned platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to challenges
• A team player who enjoys collaboration and knowledge-sharing
• Fluency in Finnish and English.

Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to know everything beforehand. The main expectation for you is to be willing and able to learn a lot.
Here are three tips that our last year Summer Trainees wanted to give for 2025 Summer Trainee applicants:

1️⃣ Always apply! Even if you don’t get hired, the application process is a valuable learning experience.
2️⃣ Showcase your projects, no matter how simple they are.
3️⃣ Don’t get discouraged. Landing a job can be tough, especially if it’s your first one.

Compensation

Our salary model is based on skills, responsibilities, and impact, aligning with your seniority and accountability. To promote inclusiveness, we follow an open salary policy. Monthly compensation to this position is between 2730-3190€ with possible bonuses and additional benefits.

❓ Can I work part-time, or is this only a full-time position?
🔹 The Summer Trainee position is full-time to ensure a valuable learning experience.

❓ What happens after the Summer Trainee period?
🔹 There may be opportunities to continue part-time after summer.

❓ When does the Summer Trainee period start and end?
🔹 The Summer Trainee period runs from May to August (5.5.–31.8.2025). Start and end dates may be flexible depending on individual needs.

❓ Is remote work possible?
🔹 Office location is in Tampere or Helsinki. We have a hybrid working mode depending on the team, so occasional work from home might be possible. We don’t offer relocation or remote work opportunities outside Finland.

❓ Is there an age limit for Summer Trainee positions?
🔹 No! As long as you are of legal age, anyone is welcome to apply.

❓ Do I need to submit a transcript of my studies?
🔹 It’s not mandatory. If you feel it adds relevant information about your skills, you can include it. However, the minimum required application documents are CV, cover letter, and a study/hobby project showcase.
